Primary Maths · P1-P6 · Singapore

You don't need more resources. You need the right one.

Your child already puts in the effort - the worksheets, the late nights. If the marks still won't move, the fix isn't more practice. It's practice aimed at the exact concept they're weak in.

The effort trap

Practising hard, marks still stuck?

Many Primary school children in Singapore practise regularly but see little change in their Math marks, because the work isn't aimed at the exact concept they're weak in.

So they spend time on questions they can already handle, while the real gaps stay open. Effort only turns into improvement when it's pointed at the right weakness. That's the whole job of the 4-week programme: find the gap, then aim every hour at it.

More vs the right one

Same hours. Different result.

Why two children can put in identical effort and only one of them moves.

More resources
  • Another stack of worksheets and assessment books
  • Revision papers picked at random
  • Hours on questions they can already do
  • The real weak concept stays hidden
  • You only find out on the next report card
The right one
  • We find the exact concept they're weak in, first
  • Hours aimed at the topics that move the marks most
  • A weekly timed check that shows where they stand
  • You see the data, not a vague "it was okay"
  • Effort finally lands where it changes the mark
How it works

Three things we do, on repeat.

No magic. A method that points effort at the right weakness, every single week.

01

Targeted curriculum

Problem-sums focus. We teach the concept, then your child tries it under a timer, so progress is earned, never copied off the board.

02

Weekly 15-min Milestone Check

A short timed test every week that surfaces the weak concept to your child first, so they stop hiding it and start fixing it.

03

Your data portal

You see exactly which concepts are weak and the plan to close them. The truth, not a vague "how was class?" answer.

The actual report

Not a grade. The exact weak concepts.

This is the real report parents get. Every concept your child is tested on, plotted by how strong and how consistent they are, and ranked by what to fix first.

Live from the Formative Minds parent portal. Concept data shown; the child's personal details are removed.

Honest, and on your side

The honest friend in your child's corner.

Plenty of centres will tell you everything's fine. It feels good, right up until the marks don't move. We'd rather show you the truth early, while there's still time to act on it.

"Just careless" is the easy answer. We won't hand it to you. We run a real diagnostic and show you exactly where the marks are slipping, the same week, so you're never left guessing.
The data points at us, too. When a class trips on a concept, that's ours to re-teach, not your child's fault. We're held to the same numbers we ask them to chase.
Less, aimed right, beats more. No child has time to practise everything. We find the few things actually holding the mark back and aim the effort there, with the weekly check keeping them moving.

The hard part, said plainly: a gap left unseen doesn't sit still, it widens, and it costs more to close every term. The kindest thing we can do is show it to you now, while there's still runway.

My son joined Formative Minds at the start of 2024 when he was in Primary 6, and I am incredibly grateful for the positive impact it has had on his learning journey. The structured teachings and comprehensive materials provided helped solidify his understanding of key math concepts essential for the PSLE. Mr. Tan was exceptional in quickly identifying my son's areas of weakness and placing targeted emphasis on improving them. His engaging teaching style and interactive lessons kept the students motivated and focused, even during challenging sessions. The small class size ensured that each student received ample individual attention, and Mr. Tan made it a point to address my son's unique needs effectively. One of the standout aspects was the encouraging and supportive atmosphere Mr. Tan created in class. Despite being mentally drained at the end of each lesson, my son looked forward to attending every week, a testament to the positive environment fostered by Mr. Tan. Over time, I noticed significant improvements—not just in my son's ability to tackle challenging math problems but also in his overall confidence and attitude toward the subject. I also appreciated the tuition centre's use of a parent portal, which gave me clear visibility into the weekly topics covered, his strengths, and his progress. The use of tools and visual aids in class made even abstract concepts more accessible. Furthermore, Mr. Tan was approachable and accommodating, always willing to provide extra support or clarify doubts outside of class hours when needed. Thanks to Mr. Tan's dedication and sincere efforts, my son went into his PSLE with greater confidence and a stronger grasp of math. I highly recommend this tuition centre to any parent looking for quality and effective math support.

I chanced upon Formative Minds for my child as I was looking for a June holiday two day Math Bootcamp workshop. Before we enrolled, Mr Tan the owner of FM called to understand my child's current learning needs and how the programme could help her. Thereafter we decided to join the weekly sessions leading to PSLE mainly due to these push factors. Mr Tan and Mdm Ho with their utmost sincerity and kindness to help every child excel and also work on their gaps is evident. I am truly grateful for their professionalism, knowledge and attention to details. What made Formative Minds stood out is also their in house data analytics profile of each child, sharing of strategies and regular updates on the child's learning. If you are looking for a centre that has a vested interest in your child's learning, this is place I would personally advocate for. Thank you Mdm Ho and Mr Tan. Deepest appreciation from the bottom of our hearts.

We are incredibly grateful for the exceptional support provided by Mdm Ho, Mr Tan & Mrs Tay for tutoring Dregan and Darwin at Formative Minds. Their customized tutoring methods, together with detailed learning analytics, have offered invaluable insights into my children's learning needs, allowing timely interventions that significantly enhance their academic results. The teachers take initiative and effort to analyse their mistakes thoroughly, helping identify whether they stem from carelessness or a lack of understanding. This analytical approach, paired with clear, achievable goals, ensures that Dregan and Darwin not only grasp the concepts but also retain what they learn. The learning center truly empowers both parents and students to take an active role in their educational journey, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes positive improvement for our children. Thank you, Formative Minds.

Hi Formative Minds team, I'd like to share some feedback on behalf of my daughter, Nur Alisyah Esham (P5). Her Maths tutor and Mr Tan, has been incredibly understanding and patient, especially with students who need extra support. He's able to identify the gaps in their understanding and guide them through their Maths challenges with clarity and care. Alisyah finds the lessons refreshing and engaging. The recap sessions and weekly short quizzes really help her stay focused and motivated to do her best each week. She's aware that she didn't perform as well as she hoped in the previous session, but she's determined to improve this time and we truly appreciate Mr Tan's constant encouragement, structured approach, and genuine passion for teaching. Thank you to the Formative Minds team for creating such a positive and supportive learning environment! Warm regards, Zafirah (Parent of Nur Alisyah Esham)

The center's focus on data analytics to assess where exactly my kids are weak in and allowing them focus on specific areas + the bite size testing each week helps them build confidence and show them they are actually capable of doing well in Math. This is the first time I see my kids actually enjoy going for tuition class and learning. The teachers and their methods of teaching are very encouraging and truly works well for my kids.

The weekly exams help my son, Darren, train consistency. This is so important for AL1. He knows that every week is a chance to prove himself and get his work done properly. It's not just about one final exam, but a marathon. He must keep it up or he will fall behind. It really teaches him discipline which is a skill he needs for life, not just for school.can't thank the teachers enough for this.

Sent both of my kids to the boot camp. Mr Tan has been very patient to share the observations about the kids we sent. Data analytics on the results- very interesting to read their ability to learn the concepts on the maths and most importantly, allow us to know what is happening to them, while letting the experts do the teaching

Like most P6 students, we were looking for a centre that can help to give our child the extra boost before she sits for her psle. We found Formative Minds and went for one lesson. Mr Tan was really engaging and explain very clearly during the lessons. A dedicated Math teacher. Our child enjoyed the lesson and asked us to send her for the subsequent lessons!

What I like most is their attitude. If everyone in the class doesn't know a particular topic, they don't blame the kids. They will bother to think of a better way to reteach and improve their materials instead of just sweeping the problem under the carpet. This is the sign of a very good center. It shows that they take responsibility for the teaching. I am so impressed with their commitment.

Mdm Ho I really like how the teacher explains difficult math concept in a simple way. When my friends are struggling, I easily breeze through the question. Ever since joining class, I feel much more confident in solving math problems sums. Even my parents say I'm improving.

My daughter learns a few skills during the boot camp in December holiday. I found out her weakness in the kind of questions that she needed help on. The diagnostic test helps us have a clearer picture of her struggles too.

A real Formative Minds story

Meet Student E.

In P4, he wasn't one of the strong ones. He'd get pulled out for the remedial class, the one for kids falling behind in school. So we did what we do: found the exact concepts he was missing, and closed them one at a time.

Watch first

The 6-minute version, from Mr Tan.

Why a hardworking child can still stay stuck, and where we aim the effort instead.

The programme

Math Essentials - 4 weeks to find the gap.

For Primary Math in Singapore, P1 to P6. Built to find the exact weakness and close it, not pile on more practice. Pick your child's level and centre to see live class times and the price.

Book your class

From $280 to $412 for the full 4-week programme.

Select a level and a centre to see live class times and the price.

Every place includes a marked diagnostic, a written observation report, and a 1-to-1 Zoom debrief, which is why we keep classes small.

Keeping to one day and centre is best for your child, so that is what we suggest. If your schedule is genuinely in flux, you can switch day or centre from week to week when you need it.

Not for everyone. This is for parents who believe improvement is earned by pointing effort at the right weakness, not by chasing shortcuts or stacking more papers.
Before you book

Questions parents ask.

How much is it, and what do I pay?

You pay for the full 4-week Math Essentials programme upfront, from $280 (P1) to $412 (P6), shown the moment you pick the level and centre above. Secure online payment. Continue to the regular programme afterwards and you get $200 off.

What if no class time fits my child's schedule?

Pick the times that could work when you book. We confirm your exact slot with you within 24 hours, and if we genuinely can't fit your child's schedule, you get a full refund. You never pay blind.

What if my child has to miss a lesson?

Life happens, and you have room to adjust. From one week to the next you can come on a different day, or even the other centre, so a clash doesn't cost you the lesson. And if your child does miss, one lesson can be made up. Ideally keep to one centre, since we mark your child's work and return it the following week, but the flexibility is there when you need it.

Can we try before committing?

In effect, yes, and it's stronger than a free trial. You book the full 4-week programme, but the first lesson plus the diagnostic give you a clear, honest read on exactly where your child stands, and you carry on only when it's working for your child. If something genuinely isn't right, talk to us and we'll make it right.

What happens after the 4 weeks?

It's the start of the long-term fix, not a one-off. If it's working for your child, you carry straight on into the regular programme, with $200 off. No automatic charge and no lock-in, so you continue on the evidence, entirely your choice.

Who teaches, and where?

Our curriculum is developed by MOE senior teachers - strong, in-depth, and built on a data-driven approach that pinpoints exactly where your child is weak. It's delivered in person by our Formative Minds teachers at two centres: Novena and Marine Parade. You choose your centre when you book.

Will the classes match what my child does in school?

We cover every MOE topic for your child's level, at full depth. We may teach a topic in a different order, or show a working method that differs from your child's school. What matters is your child reaching the right answer with confidence, and having more than one way to get there.

Prefer to talk to us first?

Message us on WhatsApp and we'll answer your questions and help you pick the right class before you book.
